What is a Breath Alcohol Test?  The breath alcohol test is used in measuring the alcohol content in the blood by testing exhaled air.  It is performed by blowing into a breath machine, or a breathalyzer, at least 15 minutes after alcohol consumption.  The objective of administering the test determines how much alcohol it takes to raise the blood-alcohol level to a dangerous level where impairment of the faculties necessary to operate a motorized vehicle, for instance, has been reached.  If one’s blood alcohol level exceeds .08% in the state of Colorado, they can be convicted of DUI.  If you are pulled over by law enforcement for suspicion of drinking you may be required to submit to a Breath Alcohol Test.  Keep in mind that these machines are not fool proof. With the help of a qualified Colorado DUI defense lawyer such as Denver DUI Lawyer, you can challenge the results of a breath alcohol test.  It’s not unusual for some breathalyzers to inaccurately misinterpret read a person’s alcohol content, sometimes the operator of the test may be inexperienced. There is a long list of protocols that must be adhered to by the test giver.  Also the breath machine may be in faulty condition or maybe it miscalibrated. This is different from the portable breath test which is a small handheld machine not much larger than a transistor radio, the tests of which are prohibited by Colorado law as evidence at trial in a drunk driving case.

At the offices of Denver DUI Attorney, we carefully analyze and evaluate any and all factors which may have affected your breath alcohol test.
